South Barn Solutions is a company providing consultancy and management services to the transport sector in the fields of operations management, project management, service delivery, business development, customer experience delivery.

South Barn Solutions was set up by David Hampson-Ghani in 2005 who brings to it over 17 years of experience working in international commercial railway operations, both passenger and freight.

Experience and expertise
David Hampson-Ghani has extensive experience in the field of transport operations management, project management and business development.  A chartered civil engineer by profession (C Eng) having obtained an honours degree at Imperial College, he is also a member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport (MILT).  

Most of his career has been spent at Eurotunnel playing a key role in the design development and commissioning of the operational systems for the channel tunnel company, later holding senior management positions in operations and business support and development.

David has solid background in senior line management having been UK Terminal Operations Manager for a number of years, responsible for the entire day-to-day operation of the UK Terminal at Folkestone, including all customer-facing service delivery departments.  He also held accountability for managing security and interface arrangements with UK and French border controls authorities.

In the field of business development and project and programme management David has run a business unit for two years, reporting to  Board level, and delivered a range of complex revenue enhancement projects involving integration across a number of disparate departments spanning two countries.  He also has expertise in the recruitment of specialist project managers, and delivery of project training programmes to non-project staff - a vital step that is often overlooked when attempting to engage in a project culture.

Maintaining and improving on high customer standards is something that David is very familiar with.  He has amassed a considerable body of knowledge and experience of programmes and processes for the creation of a properly endorsed customer strategy and the creation of an integrated customer experience programme.  This includes everything from learning and development, through to customer measurement and feedback, and including value analysis across multi-national markets.  David has presented papers on customer information systems at conferences in London and Sunderland.

The person
David is a recognised and acknowledged team player and natural communicator.  He has an inclusive and collaborative style.  Analytical and sensing in approach, he is at ease as much in the engine room as in the board room.  David is a bi-lingual English and French speaker.

Out of the box
Away from work David enjoys snowboarding, and gardening.  He has run the London Marathon three times (best 3h26m), and has a private pilots licence.  He is a school governor, and treasurer to the local church council and windmill group.  He lives in Kent with his wife and daughter - in South Barn!
